7. Replacing core plugs
First punch a hole into the plug in the centre where it will be weakest from corrosion | |
Use an old screwdriver or thin chisel to lever it out | |
Here you can see the corrosion to the plug and round the casting | |
Use a wire cup brush in an electric drill to thoroughly clean out the casting | |
Put a little Locktite or similar sealant round the edge of the hole like this | |
Drop in the core plug | |
and hit it firmly in the centre until a good dimple is formed - make sure the plug stays at the bottom of the hole during the process | |
Should
look like this when you have finished - do the other three the same way.
